Vishnumurthy

I hail my lineage to God’s own country. The rich greenery
of our homeland complements the human imagination to create
their Gods. ‘Theyyam’- the ritual dance form should be the
direct inspiration of those who created these amazingly
powerful looking Gods. The rich green of the environment
complements the powerful red of these Gods. It is green which
gives power to the red and it is red which gives back the power
to green.

This is a cover page art inspired from the Theyyam form called
“Vishnumurthy” depicting Lord Vishnu- the preserver.

This work is a sign of hope that the Preserver may show his
mercy to bless us with the wind of greenery so that the
dwindling green sustains and spread in hard and crucial times.

Home Away- an animatic

An animatic done for a story of a little boy amazed by a light on top of a hill. The boy goes after the light and finds it to be a observatory, where he meets the old scientist who then reveals through his telescope a rugged looking planet which was earth long back and humans have settled on an other planet far away

Happy Vishu

This goes to my nephew and all the little ones who make our life beautifull. Kani- the first sacred sight that one encounters as you get up from your bed and underthe heat of the closed palms of your mother you slowly walk close to Kani and mother slowly opens our palms revealing a sacred sight of the lord and his gifts which makes our life a meaningful one.

Happy Vishu to all especially the little ones who are tomorrow’s fore runners.

VRSAN

Its been quite sometime I been idle over my blog and making some people wait over my loose words.

I’ve been out of focus and also the internet connection seem to play its own games over my loss of focus, for whenever thought of posting it was disrupted.

Anyway here goes ‘VRSAN’ my study and expression of Bulls and more BULLS!!

TAMED

Lord Shiva’s dance upon the bull symbolises the victory over base instincts and the dark forces.

Though not a directrepresentation of this tought, this is an allegoric representation of any earnest soul seekers adventures

against the base instincts and the dark forces.

CHATURSRNGI

Lord Vishnu is also conceptualized as a bull taking care of the cow – earth. The four horns represents the four directions.

NANDI

As per Vishnudharmottara Purana, Nandi- the guardian of Kailasa and the Lord Shiva’s mount is an anthropomorphic being with four arms, with the trident, a short javelin and a arm in a warning gesture, three eyes, red skin colour and wears the tiger skin.

‘Vella thadi’ is a make-up form in ‘Kathakali’. This make-up is for the semi divine beings such as Hanuman and Nandi.

Its ferocious features, with a green mark between the eyebrows symbolising the divinity  and the furry costume inspired a new look to ‘Nandi’
